With a heart for Harstad

Bergvoll has known since fifth grade that he wanted to work in oil and gas, preferably in his hometown of Harstad. Growing up in the region gave him a strong connection to Northern Norway. He began his education by completing a vocational certificate in welding at Hamek, followed by a second certificate as an industrial mechanic.
“When my apprenticeship was completed and both certificates were in place, I started working for RTC Offshore on a drilling rig, taking on several assignments in South Africa,” Bergvoll explains.
He later joined Maersk Drilling before being hired by Omega 365 Consulting, where he contributed to projects at Aibel in Haugesund and Johan Castberg in Stord. When the Johan Castberg contract concluded in the autumn of 2024, he was offered the position of Department Manager in Harstad, a location he had suggested himself.
“Seeing the level of activity in Southern Norway, I want to see just as much happening in Northern Norway and the Barents Sea,” he says.
Pitching Harstad to the company
During lunch meetings with General Manager Leon Dyngeland in Stord, Bergvoll took the opportunity to ask directly when Omega 365 could establish an office in Harstad.
“I presented my reasons for why Harstad would be a good choice. It is a city with existing activity in oil and gas, several of Omega 365’s clients are already present there, and Harstad has a central location for developments in Northern Norway.”
He offered to travel to Oslo to make the case in person if needed. The invitation was well received, and in October last year, Bergvoll presented his hometown successfully.
Omega 365 Consulting has since opened a new office in a commercial building at Mølnholtet in Harstad. The premises were previously used by Equinor. At present, Bergvoll is the sole employee at the location.
“I am hoping to expand. The goal is for Omega 365 Consulting to have just as strong a presence in Northern Norway as in the south,” he says.
Building availability and trust
Having previously worked as a consultant in Omega 365 Consulting is something Bergvoll sees as a clear advantage. Being on the other side of the table gave him valuable experience, and he highlights General Manager Leon Dyngeland as someone who made a lasting impression.
“I never had a problem reaching him or getting a response. He even invited me to lunch on several occasions, and I genuinely felt appreciated as a consultant. If I can offer the same level of availability and support, that is something I would be proud of. Often, it is the small things that matter most when working as a consultant.”
Bergvoll is currently responsible for all consultants with a postal address north of Trondheim. Their work is mainly within oil and gas, but the expansion into Northern Norway is also aimed at other sectors.
“Part of the reason for positioning ourselves further north is to strengthen our presence in areas such as aquaculture and renewable energy,” he adds.
Andreas Bergvoll now leads consultants north of Trondheim and aims to strengthen Omega 365’s presence in sectors like aquaculture and renewable energy.
New projects and a new chapter
Outside of work, Bergvoll enjoys an active lifestyle and describes Harstad as a small city with big opportunities.
“There are 25,000 residents, and the logistics are simple, no matter what you are looking for. My family has a cabin near the national border, so we often head across to Sweden for snowmobiling. I also enjoy playing padel and taking advantage of what the city has to offer.”
Managing several things at once is something Bergvoll is familiar with, and that also applies on the home front. While the house he built in 2019 is being put up for sale, construction is beginning on what will be the new home for his growing family. A baby is due in April, marking the start of a new chapter.
“It is an exciting time, and I am really looking forward to it,” says the Harstad native.
