Pride is about seeing and respecting one another
At Omega, Pride is a visible reminder of the values we stand for. The rainbow flag outside our headquarters and the new rainbow bench at the entrance to our new building in Ølensvåg symbolize our support for diversity, inclusion, and everyone's right to be themselves. For Group Board member Marianne Andersen, Pride is first and foremost about respect, equality, and compassion.
Marianne Andersen has been with Omega for almost 21 years. Alongside her role on the Group Board, she works as a Project Manager, leading Omega 365 software implementations for new customers, and as an Account Manager for several existing clients. Over the years, she has seen diversity and inclusion become an increasingly important part of working life.

A celebration of equality
"To me, Pride is an annual reminder that everyone has the right to be who they are and to love whoever they choose. It is also an important movement against hatred, discrimination, and prejudice towards LGBTQ+ people. I believe Pride is about compassion, respect, and equality," says Marianne.
She believes companies play an important role in showing their support, both through actions and visible symbols. She highlights the rainbow flag along the main road as a powerful symbol. Every year when the flag is raised, it gives her an even greater sense of pride in her workplace. The new rainbow bench outside the headquarters is another meaningful symbol, and she hopes it will remain in place beyond June.
More than a celebration in June
In Marianne's view, diversity and inclusion should be a natural part of the company culture throughout the year, not just during Pride Month.
"I feel that Omega's management takes this seriously. Several of our core values, as I see them, are about being open to people regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. They are also about showing generosity and respect, both towards ourselves and towards others," she says.
She believes everyone can help create a more inclusive workplace. That includes speaking up when someone is treated unfairly or discriminated against and being mindful of how we speak about and to one another. She also points out that the younger generation is often more aware of these issues, which she sees as a positive development. At the same time, she believes we can all benefit from reflecting on our own attitudes and being willing to learn.
Marianne is proud to work for a company that visibly flies the Pride flag every year.
Looking forward to joining a parade
Although she has not yet taken part in a Pride parade, she hopes to have the opportunity in the future.
"It would be great if Omega could take part with our own delegation next year. If we do, I'll definitely be there!" Marianne concludes.
