How to defend against AI-powered phishing attacks

AI allows attackers to create very convincing phishing emails that imitate the style of legitimate communications. By using advanced algorithms to analyze large amounts of data, such as social media profiles and previous email interactions, attackers can tailor phishing messages to individual recipients. This personalization makes the emails seem more genuine, which can increase the chances of recipients being deceived.
To counter AI-powered phishing attacks, Omega 365 team members must adopt advanced security measures:
- Be vigilant: Always double-check the sender's email address and look for signs of phishing, such as unexpected attachments or links.
- Verify communications: If an email or message seems suspicious, verify its authenticity through a separate communication channel.
- Regular training: Completing our Security Awareness Training course is important to keep you updated on the latest phishing tactics and how to recognize them.
- Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): MFA adds an extra layer of security, making it more difficult for attackers to gain access even if credentials are compromised.
Report suspicious activity: If you suspect that the email, SMS messages or a phone call is a phishing attempt, forward it to phishing@omega365.com.
