New nursing home in Suldal

Omega 365 Areal has been central in developing the new Suldal Nursing Home in Sand, Norway. Designed for individuals with dementia and somatic illnesses, the facility promotes safety, calm, and activity, with bright atriums, green outdoor areas, and views of the Sandsfjord. The nursing home is set to open on 7 May.

The nursing home consists of 38 long-term care units, tailored to residents with different stages of dementia and varying somatic needs. In addition to the residential units, the facility includes a day center, a central laundry, and a full-scale kitchen.

A key objective throughout the project has been to support self-reliance and orientation for individuals with dementia, while creating a safe and stimulating environment. Universal design principles have been applied to ensure accessibility and sensory comfort for all users.

At the core of the building are two centrally located atriums that bring natural light into the interior. Together with rooftop terraces, these green oases provide sensory experiences and social meeting points. The areas are used for therapeutic activities such as plant care, harvesting, and other meaningful engagements for the residents.

Omega 365 Areal has been involved in every phase of the project, from the initial feasibility study through to detailed design and construction follow-up.
