Omega 365 Lithuania laying the foundation for future careers

The article emphasized Omega 365 Lithuania's strong connections with local educational institutions.
Most of Omega 365 Lithuania's software engineers are graduates of higher education institutions in Klaipėda. The company actively collaborates with local universities, where team members contribute to the training of future specialists by teaching, participating in curriculum reviews, and offering internships.
At the end of 2024, in cooperation with Klaipėda University – a member of the EU-CONEXUS network of higher education institutions – bachelor’s programs were introduced, focusing on cybersecurity for ports and the maritime industry, as well as advanced technologies for industrial applications.
“After discussions with university graduates, students, IT sector representatives, and academic partners, we reassessed the goals of internships, the value they provide to students, businesses, and the academic community, and established a new internship model,” says Giovanni Di Noto, department manager, lecturer at Klaipėda University, and internship supervisor.
A new internship model
The goal of this new internship model is to provide students with practical experience in solving real technological challenges, develop their soft skills, and ensure they can immediately apply their knowledge in any IT company after completing the program. The internship consists of multiple stages, with the final stage requiring students to present their work to company employees and university lecturers.
Internships leading to careers
The new model was successfully tested in the fall of 2024 when an international student group from Klaipėda University completed the program. Among them was Volodymyr Haleshchuk, a Ukrainian IT student at Klaipėda University, who completed an eight-week internship at Omega 365 Lithuania. After finishing his studies, he was offered a position at the company.
After finishing his studies, Matas Sudmantas was offered a position at the company.
“The internship flew by, and I learned so much – several things I didn’t even expect, like risk management philosophy. I particularly appreciated that the focus wasn’t just on programming but also on soft skills. I also want to thank my mentor, Aidas Gaučus – he was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the internship, making the experience even more valuable,” says Haleshchuk.
Strengthening business and academia
Vadim Narožnij, General Manager of Omega 365 Lithuania, emphasizes that the pilot internship program has been a success.
“It’s important that we strengthen the ties between business and academia, as these partnerships bring significant value to the city. We are proud to contribute to the growth of Klaipėda’s IT ecosystem.”
Alina Šoparė, HR Officer and Academic Partnership Manager, elaborates that four internship sessions are planned for this year, accommodating up to 16 students.
“In the first session of the year, we have already assembled a full internship group, which includes two students from Klaipėda University and two from Klaipėda State College,” says Šoparė.
Returning to Klaipėda
Many graduates and returnees see their future in Klaipėda and choose to join Omega 365 Lithuania.
Matas Sudmantas, a software engineer at Omega 365 Lithuania, grew up in Klaipėda, studied in Vilnius, and joined the company in 2023.
“I returned to Klaipėda because it’s my hometown, and I enjoy the lifestyle here. The sea, forests, and nearby towns like Palanga, Juodkrantė, and Nida are all connected by bike paths, making it easy to explore and get around. Klaipėda also offers a rich cultural scene with concerts, festivals, events, museums, and historical sites that are always interesting to visit.”
He is very happy with his choice of company.
“I became interested in Omega 365 because of its values, team culture, and growth opportunities. It’s a large company where you can advance in your career and enjoy additional benefits like holiday homes, international travel, and health and accident insurance,” he shares.
